Nutritious Food
Once upon a time in the village of Mji mwema, there lived a boy named Tom. Tom was in Standard six at Maweni Primary School. He loved playing football with his friends and eating things like biscuits, and chips, and drinking soda.
One day, Tom started feeling tired during class. He couldn't run as fast as before and often fell asleep while doing his homework. His teacher Furaha noticed and called him after class.
"Tom," she said kindly, "you haven't been yourself lately. Is everything alright?"
Tom nodded slowly. "I don't know, Teacher. I just feel tired all the time."
Teacher Furaha smiled. "Sometimes, the food we eat affects how we feel. Let's learn about nutritious food tomorrow in class."
The next day, the whole class was excited. On the board, Teacher Furaha wrote: "Nutritious Food = Healthy Body + Strong Mind."
She explained that nutritious foods are those that help our bodies grow strong and fight diseases. These include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, milk, beans, fish, and eggs. Junk food, like crisps and sweets, gives us quick energy but makes us tired quickly and doesn't help us grow strong.
Then, she asked the pupils to create a "Healthy Plate" drawing. Tom drew a big plate filled with rice, green vegetables, fish, and mango slices.
From that day, Tom made a promise. He told his mother, "Mum, I want to eat more vegetables and fruits from now on." His mother smiled and agreed.
Within a few weeks, Tom felt more energetic. He could run faster, focus in class, and even helped his team win the school football match.
He told his friends, "Nutritious food is like fuel. Without it, our bodies can't work properly!"
The whole class started bringing healthy snacks to school, and Maweni Primary School became known as the healthiest school in Mji mwema.
Moral of the story: Eat nutritious food every day to stay healthy, strong, and smart!
